- Originally from Timmins, ON
- Completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Political Studies at Queen's University, 2002
- Am concurrently completing a Master of Science degree in Space Studies from the American Military University and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary
- Have
served in the Canadian Navy as a Maritime Surface Officer for 11 years
sailing on operations in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans
- Hold Private Pilot and Gliding licenses
- Have lived, worked and traveled in 18 countries on 4 continents
- Interests include international travel, architecture (especially that of Frank Lloyd Wright), and music (favourite composers are Aura Pon, Antonin Dvorak, Ralph Vaughn Williams and Michael Nyman)
